H.K. Chui is an Environmental Engineer (Member of HKIE) with over 30 years of
experience in the Field of Environmental Engineering. He has been
responsible for sewerage infrastructure planning, setting effluent standards
for effluent discharges, enforcement of environmental legislation, supervising
the Shing Mun River Bioremediation Works, the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme,
the Organic Resources Recovery Centre and the Integrated Waste Management
Facilities. Dr. Chui is an expert in wastewater treatment with 29 international
journal papers published, 1400 citations, 5 International Awards as well as the
Best Ph.D Thesis Award of the University of Hong Kong in 1993 – 1995.
Since 2004, Dr. Chui has been a part-time lecturer of the Master of
Science course in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
teaching “Wastewater Treatment and Reuse”. He is now an Assistant
Director of Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR Government, in
charge of the waste-to-energy strategy and facilities developments.
