Programme Highlight:
With over 90% of electricity consumption in Hong Kong coming from
buildings, and a substantial 65% of electricity consumption in Hong Kong is
from commercial buildings, it is important for the commercial industry to
achieve deep energy savings in order to realize substantial decarbonization in
Hong Kong to move towards Paris Agreement and the IPCC special report of
limiting global warming to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels. As the General
Manager of Technical Services & Sustainable Development of Swire Properties,
Dr. Raymond Yau will explore how the industry can tackle this issue through
highlighting the energy management program in Swire Properties, in which a 26%
reduction in annual energy consumption is targeted by the year 2020 as compared
to 2008. These strategies encompass both new buildings and existing buildings,
from “low hanging fruits” to the utilization of smart energy management
cloud-based platform, and also the involvement of tenant side. Towards deep
energy savings is no longer a one party action, but an integrated effort from
corporates to government to individuals.
