Technical Workshop on “Application of Building Information Modelling in Environmental Protection”

Date, time & venue

2016-05-12;9:30am - 5:00pm. 12-13 May 2016 (2 consecutive days);CIC Computer Room in Kowloon Bay

Workshop is co-organised by EVD and Construction Industry Council (CIC)

BEAM Society Limited & HKFEMC are supporting organisations

Programme highlight

Building information modeling (BIM) is a new way of approaching the design and documentation of building projects.  It is a process that involves creating and using innovative and intelligent 3D models to communicate project decisions.  BIM exhibits many advantages, such as the ability to integrate rich information with graphics to generate drawings and reports, evaluate design options, perform simulations and analyses, and facilitate the project planning and execution process. This workshop provides both presentations and hands-on exercises, focusing on the application of BIM in environmental protection. The participants can use the BIM platform to transfer the theory into actual practice with the assistance of the instructor.

Topics to be covered

Elaboration of the use of BIM in environmental protection with solid examples

Demonstration and hands-on exercises of how to implement the environmental protection through the application of BIM

Day 1 (12 May 2016, Thursday):

-          Introduction of BIM

-          Quantity takeoffs and clash detection using BIM

-          C&D waste minimization using BIM

-          Solar study, daylighting analysis, and energy simulation using BIM

-          Indoor ventilation simulation using CFD and BIM

-          Discussions on BIM for green building design, construction and operation

Day 2 (13 May 2016, Friday):

-          Creation of BIM models (e.g. grids, walls, floors, furniture)

-          Modification of BIM families

-          Preparation of rendering and drawings from BIM models

-          Creation of walkthrough videos

-          4D modeling using BIM

-          Project collaboration using BIM
