Technical Seminar: Building Energy Efficiency in Hong Kong: How High We Can Go?

Programme highlights

Energy efficiency in buildings is a critical issue affecting the economic and environmental sustainability of Hong Kong. In order to achieve higher building energy efficiency, it is important to understand the major characteristics of building energy use and develop effective strategies to promote better energy performance of buildings. This seminar will describe the basic concepts of building energy efficiency, explain the major characteristics of building energy use in Hong Kong, and discuss the key factors for promoting the highest energy efficiency in buildings.

 

Speaker

Ir Dr. Sam C. M. Hui is a Teaching Consultant (Building Services Engineering) and an Honorary Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. He has a strong technical background in the study of energy efficiency in buildings and is active in promoting sustainable building technology.
