Programme Highlights
The main theme of the talk
is on five key sustainability challenges facing a metropolitan city like Hong
Kong, covering climate change and energy, urban environmental quality,
sustainable waste management, a dilemma between development and conservation, and
a drive towards smart, low-carbon and green city. The speaker will discuss
these challenges from multi-disciplinary perspectives and address the policy
and implementation challenges.
Speaker
Professor Elvis Au is
currently Adjunct Professor of the Department of Geography and Department of
Urban Planning and Design of the University of Hong Kong and Adjunct Professor
of the Science Faculty of the Hong Kong Baptist University. He is the former
Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Department of HKSAR Government,
with 37 years of experiences (including 32 years in the Government) in various
environmental, energy and sustainability fields and smart city
development. He is the former President of the International Association for
Impact Assessment and the former Chairman of the Environmental Division of Hong
Kong Institution of Engineers.
