Programme Highlights:

An in-house pilot study on the feasibility of on-site generation of chlorine (OSCG) system train 1 manufactured by Electrolytic Technologies LLC has been conducted  in Ngau Tam Mei Water Treatment Works (NTM WTW) of Water Supplies Department since late 2016. The OSCG system has been integrated into the existing power, control system, pipework systems, fire services system, and caustic dosing system at Ngau Tam Mei WTW, and tested for its full functional capability as a whole with the existing OSCG Pilot Plant to enhance redundancy and reliability. During April - May 2019, 28 Days reliability test of OSCG train 2 was carried out inclusive of chlorine gas dosing and hybrid production of chlorine gas and sodium hypochlorite solution, and all the associated M&E equipment, including but not limited to, power supply upgrading, control system, pumping equipment, instrumentation air system, plant water system, water softener, chiller system, brine preparation system, chemical and waste storage systems, necessary appurtenances, gas detection systems and building services system. Operational experiences will be shared on the practical lessons learnt in the pilot project and the commissioning of the OSCG plant in particular the train 2 at Ngau Tam Mei WTW as well as the observations during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in Japan on the DeNora's OSCG Plants.
