Jointly Organized by CAD, AMC and EVD
Programme Highlights:
The drinking water quality could be affected by the
internal plumbing systems of buildings, notwithstanding that the water supplied
by the Water Supplies Department (WSD) complies with the Hong Kong Drinking
Water Standards (HKDWS).
Water
Safety Plan for Buildings (WSPB)
provides a systematic and effective management framework for the internal
plumbing systems in buildings including conducting risk assessment,
implementing corresponding control measures and undertaking regular checking,
inspections and maintenance together with regular audits and reviews. As a component of the Action Plan for
Enhancing Drinking Water Safety in Hong Kong promulgated in September 2017, WSD
has been promoting building owners / property management agents to develop and
implement WSPB to safeguard drinking water quality in their buildings,
including developing the associated guidelines and templates of WSPB in accordance
with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
To encourage building owners and property management
agents to implement WSPB, WSD launched QMS in November 2017 which gives
recognition by awarding certificates to building owners and property management
agents for proper maintenance of the internal plumbing systems of their
buildings including implementation of WSPB.
