Technical Visit - North West New Territories Refuse Transfer Station

The North West New Territories Refuse Transfer Station (“NWNT RTS”) is located at Lam Tei, Tuen Mun and is one of the seven RTS in Hong Kong. It was designed to handle 1,320 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day, mainly serving both the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts.  NWNT RTS includes a tipping hall where the vehicle disposes of the refuse into the live-floor hopper, and the refuse is loaded into seal-tight containers and transported to the landfill by tractors for disposal.  Since its commencement of operation in 2002, the NWNT RTS has undergone further refurbishment and modification works. Swire Waste Management Limited has been commissioned by the Government as the contractor of the NWNT RTS.
