Technical Visit: Dolphin Watching Tour to West Lantau

Programme Highlight

The Chinese White Dolphin (CWD) is resident in Hong Kong’s western waters and the Pearl River Estuary (PRE), and the population in PRE is unique as it is the largest one along the China’s coastline. However, its abundance in Hong Kong has shown to be declining in recent years. To enhance the awareness and understanding of this beautiful creature, the trip is arranged to have a team of experienced dolphin surveyors to introduce the habitat, behavior, and surveying method of CWD.

 

Proposed Itinerary

-      Assembly at Tung Chung MTR Station, 15-min walk to Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier for departure.

-      Introduction of CWD habitat and behavior by experienced dolphin surveyors.

-      Search CWD in West Lantau waters

-      Return to TCND Ferry Pier

·         Vessel picks up and return to TCND Ferry Pier &

Registration & Enquiries

The number of participants is limited to 35, and the applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. For registration, please complete the online enrollment form in EV Division website (http://ev.hkie.org.hk). The deadline for registration is 03 January 2024.
