Technical Seminar: An overview of the design and construction of the Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 1

Date, time & venue

2018-05-07;7:00pm - 8:00pm;Chan Yat Mei Sophie Room – 9/F

Programme Highlights:-

Alongside waste reduction at source and recycling initiatives, waste to energy facilities adopting advanced incineration technology form an indispensable and integral part of Hong Kong’s overall waste management strategy.

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD), after going through an open tender process, awarded a contract to design, build and operate the Integrated Waste Management Facilities (IWMF) Phase 1 in November 2017.  In addition to an incinerator system with a maximum treatment capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste (MSW), the IWMF Phase 1 will also have a mechanical sorting and recycling facility that can recover useful resources from 200 tonnes of MSW received per day.

Mr Yu would give an overview of the design and contraction of the project, with particular focus on the seawall construction and reclamation, environmental and ecological enhancement measures, and the design and construction of the incineration and energy recovery systems.
