Background
BIM (Building Information Modeling) has been used as
a tool for creating a smart sustainable city in recent years. This tool
is now playing a major role in energy saving, emission reduction and
sustainability to lead a “zero carbon, zero water” community. In terms of
building life cycle management of construction projects, BIM enables
standardization of processes, allows predictions of every stage and increases
the accessibility of knowledge over the cycle.
In this symposium our speakers will focus on how we bring
construction into the 21st century by the smart use of digital assets and how
building professionals use innovative BIM and GIS (Geographic Information
System) technologies from urban planning, design and construction to drive a
lean process and achieve green and sustainable Smart Cities all over the
world. At the end of the symposium, we aim to have a clear sense of what
the different sectors can do in the short term as well as the longer term to
achieve reduction targets in a cost-effective way that supports Hong Kong to
transform to a smarter “zero carbon, zero water” community.
