Programme Highlight
ANSI/ASHRAE Standards 62.1 is a
recognized standard in Hong Kong for ventilation system design and acceptable
IAQ. This chapter contains two alternate ventilation rate determination procedures: the Ventilation Rate Procedure
(VRP) and the Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP). The IAQP usually allows
lower ventilation rates than the VRP in office environment, because the former
is about controlling air contaminants towards minimum air changes. The IAQP
method is practically rarely used for two reasons: VRP is formula based versus
IAQP situational based so the former method is much easier to execute; secondly
the easiest way to reduce air contaminants is by fresh air dilution anyway.
Excessive conditioned fresh air, however, especially in Hong Kong's humid
subtropical climate, is costly. In this programme we shall examine feasibility
to deploy the IAQP method with new sorbent materials and advanced air cleaning
system available in market today.
The presentation will be in Cantonese
and powerpoint in English
Speaker
Mr. Marc Chow is a technical
& business advocate of IAQ solutions encompassing market segments from
centralized HVAC system to desktop device. Besides being a building services
engineer by training, Marc was previously an incubatee of Hong Kong Science
Park Inc-Tech program. He got involved
in several technology and product development and licensing projects, with
prime interest in building energy saving and indoor air quality management.
