2014/2015 HKIE Environmental Division Book Prize Award Announcement

The Environmental Division intends to award book prizes to Associate Members and non-corporate young HKIE members who prepare reports of a high standard on technical meetings and technical visits organized by the Division. The objectives of the Award are:

To encourage participation of HKIE events;

To promote interests in the respective topic; and

To promote report writing skills.

Rules of the Book Prizes:

1.   The prizes are open to Associate Members, Student Members, or Graduate Members of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

2.   The candidates are required to submit a report on the technical meeting presentation or on environmental aspects of the technical visit.

3.   The report shall be typed on and up to a maximum of two A4 pages, in a form suitable for direct publication in the HKIE Journal. The report may include graphical or pictorial illustrations.

4.   Two copies and one soft copy in rich-text or Microsoft Word format of the report, together with graphical or pictorial illustrations, if any, shall be submitted to

5.   Deadline for submission is within four weeks of the dates of the technical meeting or technical visit.

6.   A maximum of two Book Prizes will be awarded to the best two submissions for each technical meeting or technical visit. The Committee reserves the right not to award the prize if there are insufficient entries of a suitable standard.

7.   Winners will normally be informed within four weeks of the closing dates of submitting the reports. Winning report may be submitted to the HKIE for publication in the Hong Kong Engineer.

8.   The prize will be in the form of a book coupon of a HKD500 per entry.

9.   The maximum number of book prizes to be awarded to an individual is limited to two for each session.
