(Jointly organised with the Association of Engineering Professionals in Society)
Programme highlights
Given one of the core objectives of the SAR Government is to raise Hong Kong people's quality of life and improve the environment, the HKIE EV Division and the Association of Engineering Professionals in Society Ltd consider there is a pressing need for the community to have an insight into not only the environmental policies and measures introduced by both the SAR Government and the PRC Authorities but also how effective they are in response to changing circumstances. This seminar will look into the aforesaid, share the progress made in cross-boundary cooperation to combat regional pollution particularly in meeting the agreed 2010 emissions reduction targets, and analyse the causes for climate change and its likely economic, social and environmental impacts to Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. Other environmental issues including Air Quality Guidelines (AQG), waste management, planning & design of sustainable cities, and registration of environmental engineers and practicing requirements in the the will also be examined.
