Chairman's Message

The environmental challenge in the industrial world is experiencing an unprecedentedly vast expansion and a more complicated scenario. Engineers are required not only to meet environmental treatment needs in all relevant fields but also to adopt a broader perspective in new and large-scale agendas, such as, but not limited to, climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable development goals. This has not even taken into account coping with rapidly evolving artificial intelligence tools, which have revolutionized our practice, work efficiency, and service quality in the environmental industry. The Environmental Division held its annual rich events in the previous year, and participating members made it clear in these events that the division would have to take on this grand challenge to diversify its service scope. These constructive suggestions are invaluable to our ongoing growth within our division and also to the future development trend in the environmental industry. We are incredibly fortunate to have very supportive members in the division at all career stages, and we will take this opportunity to drive a positive transformation in the environmental service industry in Hong Kong, if not also beyond. Members are cordially invited to attend our annual reception, forum, and many other learning/service events this year. We will also expand our collaboration with various divisions to foster an interdisciplinary culture for nurturing future engineers. The vibrant and highly passionate members have always been the division's greatest asset and the critical mass that will be with us when we navigate this challenging time together. I hold it as a great honor and pleasure to serve you this year.
